Arbeit Beginnt...

...things are starting, they had too, felt like I was awash in sleeping too much, in part to jet lag, but also to having a rock band every night below my bed playing intense german metal rock. I feel like I will work late here, I can't sleep with the bands cranking out at Jaegerklause. Bless the Deutschen for still believing that growling wagnarian metal is relevant, which I suppose can at times apply to being a painter in the 21st century. I may, perhaps, have more in common artistically with this music pumping in from below my residence here in Friedrichshain than I give credit...

Insomnia in einer Neumondnacht
Im Zirkelschluss gefangen sein
In altbekannten Konfusionen
Ohne Nachschub an Konklusionen
Eingeloggt und eingelocht
Wiederholt wiedergekaut

Viel, viel viel dunkles Zeug
Zu viel
Zum Schlafen viel zu viel
Zum Traeumen viel zu viel

Insomnia at new moon
Imprisoned in circula reasoning
In long familiar confusions
No newly supplied conclusions
Logged in and locked up
Repeated and rehashed
Unable to sleep
Unable to stop
On an empty night of the new moon
So much,
It's all much too much
To sleep, much too much

The thoughts make their nightly round
I've never hunted them down
And they continue their same old rant
About all the things I have lost
About keys, innocence, good friends
About prospects, account balances
Some of which only in passing
Much, much, much dark stuff
Too much
To sleep, much too much
to dream, much too much
.

Das richtige Lied bei Schlaflosigkeit...tröstlich.

Jägerklause...die Herausforderung.

Du brauchst OROPAX and hope!

As I have said...this looks good alreday.

I need more than earplugs, the floor vibrates from the drum and bass. I wish I had known this was the case before I arrived. This isn't turning out as great as I was expecting. I have only gotten 3 hours of sleep each night now that I've been here. I wouldn't recommend Takt to any other artist, unless you are into metal music and love working to screaming hard metal music till 5AM...

Oh hey! Are you allergic to cats or mind taking care of cats? You could have our Prenzlauer Berg loft for the first week of February and get some sleep if you want. You may be able to have it without the cats too. No metal bar, just lots of boring yuppies.

I'm very interested in that prospect. I love cats, not allergic at all! Can you email with me about this?

Harold,
Congrats on your residency! I’ve been enjoying following your exploits in Germany. I’m sorry to hear about the Metal venue below you. Do they really play until 5am? Perhaps you could try using some noise cancelling headphones while listening to your own music. I’m sure the floor would still vibrate, but it might save you from the wicked guitar solos. Anyway, I hope all is well with you. Take care and keep blogging!

I'm sure Takt appreciates the criticism. I'd be careful what I say in public forum while they're hosting you, if I was you.

Thanks Sean, I went looking earlier for some headphones and for some earplugs. Thanks for saying hi, hope things in your world are rolling along good as well! Look forward to hearing what you have been making musically as well!
As far as criticism, if they boot me for mentioning that they didn't inform me or the other artists, all of whom are not happy at the moment, about a metal club below the residency, I could find another spot here in Berlin to do the work. I don't fear moving on...
