I think it's the swirly stencil thing that so off-putting. I like the paint crawling through golden loops in the center. And the worn away ground. But the rock/paper/scissors cut outs are dead and don't know it. A painter as good as you are has all the choices in the world. Be less loyal to that stencil. Yes, you've given it some of the best years of your life, but the real best is ahead.
